Forest Row is a lively village on the East/West Sussex border on the northern fringe of Ashdown Forest with its 6,400 acres of heath/woodland for riding (by permit) and walking. There are also good footpath walks around the village and surrounding countryside including on the Forest Way Country Park, along which you can also cycle and horse ride.
Forest Row provides a surprisingly varied and plentiful array of specialist shops, local stores, mini supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. There is also a modern health centre and a number of churches of various denominations. Further more extensive shopping, leisure/sports amenities and a rail service to London are available at East Grinstead, only three miles to the north. Gatwick Airport/Station, Crawley and the M23 motorway are within fifteen miles.
There are bus services through the village to East Grinstead, Crawley, Tunbridge Wells, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and the City of Brighton, all of which provide excellent shopping and leisure amenities and rail connections to various London Stations.
Places of interest locally include the Bluebell Steam Railway, Wakehurst Place and Sheffield Park Gardens, Penshurst Place, Chartwell and Hever Castle.
There are a good selection of golf courses, sailing/angling opportunities, sports centres with swimming pools, and sports clubs within a reasonable radius.
