Forest Row is a popular and lively village lying three miles south of East Grinstead on the border of East and West Sussex. The house stands on the very edge of Ashdown Forest with its 6,400 acres of heath/woodland for riding (by permit) and walking. Built in the 1800s the property has been in the same family ownership for 100 years. Standing on a large plot, the house is within one mile of the village centre with its exceptionally wide and varied range of specialist stores, shops, mini-supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. There is a modern health centre, and a variety of churches of differing denominations. Forest Row and the surrounding area has a wide range of schools, both private and state, including Michael Hall, Greenfields, Brambletye, Ashdown House and a village primary school. Bus services stop within a few hundred yards of the house and provide regular connections to the towns of East Grinstead, Tunbridge Wells, Crawley and Haywards Heath, all of which have more extensive shopping and rail services to London. There are a good range of sports clubs in the local vicinity, a leisure centre with indoor pool at East Grinstead, and a wide range of golf courses locally.
