Is Crowborough a nice place to live?

Crowborough is a traditional market town nestled at the edge of the Ashdown Forest in the High Weald area of outstanding natural beauty.

This historic and popular town is situated at the second highest point in East Sussex and grew from the merging of a number of villages and hamlets. It is the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and a statue within the town celebrates its most famous literary resident.

Nestled in the countryside, Crowborough has lots of choice when it comes to outdoor pursuits, with woodland, nature reserves and parks for walking, hiking, and cyclists, as well as rock climbing and horse riding. The nearby beautiful Ashdown Forest with its 6,500 acres of protected ancient heath and woodland is a distinct plus to settling in this area. The forest was of course A.A. Milnes inspiration for his universally loved Winnie the Pooh books. T

Crowborough offers ample opportunities for well-spent downtime with its comprehensive shopping and leisure facilities, including a vibrant arts culture, community events and leisure centre with a swimming pool, gym, skate park, and bike park. If you need a little more, the eclectic Royal Tunbridge Wells, with its excellent shops, restaurants, theatre and railway station with fast services to the capital, is around seven miles to the north.

Crowborough's railway station offers services to London that take little over an hour, while Gatwick Airport is just a 40-minute drive away.
